Project Overview

Project Description

The USS Dallas Memorial is planned to feature components of USS Dallas (SSN-700) as the centerpiece of a permanent memorial. The conceptual site plan illustrates the submarine displayed within a landscaped setting, allowing visitors to experience the vessel at full scale while learning about its distinguished naval service.

The project also includes a future museum inside the former Natural History Museum, where exhibits, photographs, artifacts, and educational displays will preserve the history of USS Dallas and the Silent Service. A Ship’s Store will provide commemorative merchandise that supports the memorial’s long-term mission.

As the only United States Navy submarine ever named after the City of Dallas, USS Dallas holds a unique place in naval history. Throughout its remarkable career, the submarine participated in numerous significant operations and became widely recognized through its portrayal in The Hunt for Red October, introducing millions to its legacy.
